Purpose

My purpose in life is to help folks discover the paths (also known as opportunities) that you may choose to take, to help you find health, wellness, joy, and abundance. More specifically speaking, I do that by helping you create or discover your ideal jobs and by helping organizations create more Inclusive Diverse Equitable Accessible Learning (IDEAL) workplaces. Because when you have economic security, everything is so much easier!

While I love working with people individually, I’m also aware that I can help more folks discover opportunities by connecting and communicating with larger groups. I’m one of those rare people who loves to speak in front of groups! I actually look forward to transformational conversations and group discussions when facilitating training.

Why certification?

I became a certified Cultivating Safe Spaces (CSS) facilitator because this framework, created by Elaine Alec, Founder of Naqsmist Storytellers Inc. resonates deeply with me. I’ve made a lifelong study and practice of leadership. People and how we work together fascinates me.

I believe that each of us has gifts to share with the world, and that when we find a workplace that appreciates us for those gifts, and compensates us with at least a living wage, then we all win.

When folks I interact with identify their gifts, and discover their paths, I experience great, almost overwhelming, joy.

I chose to join the community of CSS facilitators, and to lead this work because it feels like the missing piece illustrating my why and purpose. As a certified facilitator, I have access support from other facilitators, and all the training materials and resources created by Elaine and the others who have gone down this path before me.

Cultivating Safe Spaces

Cultivating Safe Spaces is rooted in nested systems of Indigenous Peoples Knowledges from around the world, starting with Elaine Alec’s communities and the traditional teachings of her peoples. The beauty of being a CSS facilitator is that each of us completes and shares the framework with others using our lived experiences and gifts.

Everyone can see themselves in Cultivating Safe Spaces.

In my case, I’m a storyteller who shares practical actionable opportunities for change with others. For example, last week I received feedback after a session I regularly deliver:

“Thank you so much for facilitating such a great session yesterday. I had many people stop me afterward to share how beneficial they found the information — and how they could apply it in their own contexts, even if they’re not directly involved in recruitment.”

Being a certified CSS facilitator is a responsibility that I am honoured to take on. While there may be no such thing as a truly safe space, by doing this work I can help organizations identify opportunities to cultivate belonging, connection, and safety, ultimately leading to more IDEAL workplaces, where more folks will achieve economic security.

Who am I, and what is on my heart?

Elaine starts each session with the questions "who are you?" and "what is on your heart?" Here is my answer:

I am Chantal Fraser, a military veteran and a citizen of the Metis Nation of Ontario. I’m also an entrepreneur, a community volunteer, a daughter, sister, wife, aunt, and mother. My mission is to help everyone within my circles of influence find their paths to economic security.
